PHOTOGRAPHY & VIRTUAL REALITY IN THE ARCHIVES

​We will look at the first century of photography and repeated attempts to transform images into a virtual reality. Award-winning photographer and instructor Gary Samson will demonstrate the collodion (wet plate glass negative) process while Betsy Holmes provides a brief history of photography as an art form. Then we'll reconvene to learn how to digitize glass slides on a budget, and we'll peer into the world of the magic lantern, common stereoscope, and rare Megalethoscope. Optional afternoon tours will visit the special collections at the Manchester Historic Association and neighboring NH Institute of Art.

NH Archives Group members are $20; non-members are $25. Morning coffee and lunch are included in workshop fee. The workshop fee and membership dues (optional) are payable by check in advance, or by cash or check at the door.
