Introduction

At this workshop we are looking at New Hampshire during the Revolutionary War, the history of religion in the state, and Franco-American genealogy in northern New England. More details to follow...

9:30  WORKSHOP WELCOME
Welcoming remarks by Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais and NHAG President Dennis Pedley.
9:45  TEACHING a revolution
Presentation on Revolutionary War education and programming by Jenn Walton, assistant director of education at the NH Historical Society.
10:30  IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE IN ARCHIVES
Using the Franco-American records at the University of Southern Maine to illustrate the immigrant experience in northern New England.

Anna Faherty
holds an MA in History and a MS in Library Science with a concentration in archives. She is the archivist at the Franco-American Collection, located on the Lewiston campus. As the solo arranger at the Collection, she provides K-12 and university level instruction on primary sources and Franco-American history in Maine, coordinates community events, and engages in preventative preservation practices to help meet the Collection’s mission to preserve and promote the Franco-American culture and history in Maine.

Brief presentation on the American Canadian Genealogy Museum. Presented by Phil Cote.
12:00  Lunch Break / Networking
A perfect time for networking with other NHAG members.
 1:00  250 years of religion in NH
Presented by Dennis Pedley, archivist for the Diocese of Manchester.
 2:00  genealogy case study
Presented by Ed Brouder.
Post-workshop optional tours: Manchester Historic Association Research Center, Manchester City Library, or Manchester Diocese Archives.

Free for NHAG members. Not a member? Visit www.NHAG.org/join or log directly into our membership portal to check your status and renew as needed. Your $15 membership extends for 12 months (i.e. covering admission for two workshops) from the date of initial sign-up with online payments and optional automatic renewals. Public parking is available at Manchester parking lots (Harnett Lot or Victory Parking Garage are nearby).
